THINNING:

Sunrise Special Emulsion requires thinning with clean water before use. The water should be added gradually with continued stirring. The amount of water to be added will depend upon the roughness and porosity of the surface and the rate of drying during application

APPLICATION:

Before use, always stir thoroughly to ensure that all the colorants are evenly dispersed. Thin down with good quality white spirit to desired application viscosity for brushing & spray. For best results apply two coats of Sunrise Gloss Finish Enamel. Between coats give 12 - 18 hours under normal weather conditions.

PRIMING:

An appropriate Champion Primer is available for most types of surfaces. Primer should always be applied by brush.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

Preparation of the surface to be painted is most important. If surface is clean and firm, the new paint will look better, last longer and will go on more easily. On new work or when surfaces have not been painted before, it is often necessary to apply a "primer" or first coating. Wood, metal, plaster etc., all need a different and of primer and there is a Sunrise Primer for each type of surface. All primers should be applied by brush to building surfaces, since spray-applied primers do not penetrate or stick to rough or porous surfaces so well. Priming coats must be allowed time to harden before putting on the next coat of paint. Leaving overnight is usually sufficient, but a longer time may sometime be needed when drying conditions are bad. Following the primer, Sunrise Gloss Finish Enamel should be applied with or without an undercoat. For smoothing out rough surfaces or where the colour of finish is being changed appreciably, use an undercoat. For maximum durability however apply Sunrise Gloss Finish Enamel direct to primer.

IRON & STELL:

New Work

Previously unpainted surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned before painting. Rust and mill scale must be removed by wire brushing or with rough sandpaper. Oil, dust and grease must be removed by washing with white spirit and wiping off with clean rags. When clean, apply by brush one coat of Sunrise Chromate Metal Primer. When dry apply two coats of Sunrise Gloss Finish Enamel.

Old Work:

For old work in a bad condition (blistered, flaking, cracked, powdering), it should be burnt offor stripped with Sunrise Paint Remover and the stripped areas treated as for new work. Paintwork in good conditions should be washed down with soap and water and allowed to dry. Smallareas of loose or flaking paint may be scraped back to a firm edge. All bare areas should then be treated as new work above.

WOOD:

New Work

New wood should be smoothed with sandpaper and all knots and resinous. Patches coated with knotting or shellac solution. When dry (a few Minutes) coat by brush, over all, with 1 coat Sunrise White Wood Primer. When dry (overnight) apply two coats of Sunrise Synthetic Enamel. If superior durability or appearance is required apply 3 coats of Sunrise Synthetic Enamel. For an economy process apply 1 coat but this will not give as good results as 2 or 3 coats.
